Today, UET announced timeline and ECAT preparation guidelines for year 2014 on its official admission website. We haven’t noticed any change in entry test pattern. Entry test will be held on 24 august 2014 but the date is tentative. Last date for applying is 08 august 2014.
Should you apply for ECAT 2014?
Last year, UET removed limits fro students appearing in ECAT. It means now any student can appear in entry test no matter whether (s)he has just appeared in matric exams or have passed FSc ten years ago. This is a good news for students. So it is recommended that you should attempt entry test whether you are 2nd year student or 1st year. This will boost your confidence and you will have idea of entry test environment. You should apply earlier and choose UET main campus as your test center (of course if you live in Lahore), it will be a great experience for you because almost 14000 students appear in Lahore campus for test.

Entry test (ECAT 2014) Preparation Guidelines
Some advice from a student of Electrical Engineering session:
Entry test is nothing else than a game of nerves. It has nothing to do with beyond Intermediate concepts. Almost all the institutions present Entry test as a horrible monster, that affects more than 40% of students’ confidence. According to me, Entry test only revolves with in the Intermediate books. Believe me, there is nothing new. Actually, problem is at that point when a student sits in the examination hall with a fierce mind set. He loses more than 50% of his concentration & according to me this is the only matter that makes difference.
So, try to hold your nerves at the final hour & don’t let your concentration divert even a bit. Believe in your struggle & above all believe in Allah Pak. He’ll bless u with what u deserve the best

HEC declares 4 years technology degrees same as engineering degrees. In most parts of the world, its scope is same as of an engineering degree (Remembered 3 idiots? when they say ‘Farhan qureshi B-tech Engineer‘ 😉 ). However due to confusion spread and recognition problems, btech degrees are considered a bit of low standard in pakistan. Also there is already a lot of competition in electrical engineering domain. So if you want to pursue a btech degree, go for civil or mechanical technology.

Don’t worry dear. UET’s admission website is down. I’ll let you know as soon as the site goes up. Your admit card is issued. you’ll be able to print it when site’s error will resolve.

With 280 or above marks, you can get admission in any field of engineering in UET Lahore.
Sir architectural engg ka kya scope h?
In near future there is going to be big span for architects and architectural engineers in Pakistan. so yes, there is good scope of architectural engg.

W.salam. You should get 210 or above marks in ECAT. Merit will depend upon entry test but if everything goes normal, merit will increase a bit.

Salam! I need a bit of your guidance please. I’m from the A’level stream and my equivalence is 905.
I appeared in the entry test last year without any kind of preparation from the FSc books or from anywhere else and scored 180. Got admission in LCWU, electrical engineering.
Please guide how to prepare for the test this year as i want to appear again and get into UET.
W alaikum assalam. Basically it doesn’t matter whether you prepare from FSc books or A level books because ecat is designed to test your concepts and grip on the subjects studied in ‘intermediate’ level studies. You were able to get 180 marks because level of studies is same. For good preparation, review your A-levels course books and then start studying FSc books. you should study in a way that you can relate different topics(like formulas). remember three things for good marks:
1. Thorough study .
2. Don’t panic in exam hall and be confident .
3. Skip questions you can’t solve.

Yes. you can easily get above 280 marks if you focus on FSc books and do your test calmly and with full confidence. skip questions you don’t know. thats all!

You welcome. If you manage get above 220 marks then admission in your desired discipline will be very easy (S category).

W alaikum assalam! both fields are very good. similarly any general engineering field like electrical, civil will be very good. keep in mind that it depends upon your interest. you will get job, no matter which engineering career you pursue. But if you ask for preference (with neutral interest) then -> mechanical, software, civil, computer, electrical, chemical, materials and all other.(at least in my opinion. and others’ opinions should not matter in your life. 😉 )

First, appear in entry test. after ecat result, admissions will start. purchase prospectus, fill form, attach required documents and mail it to uet taxila.. you are all done! 🙂

No, Uet Taxila is independent university and DAI(degree awarding institute). it has two campuses: one in taxila and one in chakwal.

Due to high competition, merit of overseas is also increasing each year. usually it is 70% for petroleum engineering.
