Students who have attempted uet test in 2011 know that it was a surprise test. Even on the test date uet did not officially provided paper pattern. The first test of uet was held on 24 july 2011. This was very easy and every student was satisfied from his or her test. Later UET cancelled the test stating that it was leaked. It was sheduled later on 11 september , after one day of declaration of intermediate result 2011.
So what happend that only 45 students crossed marks line of 250 out of 400 total marks?

In the test that was held on 24 july 2011, there were about 41000 candidates appeared. But 11 sept test was held one day after intermediate exam results, candidates number significantly decreased to about 31000 due to their poor performance in intermediate exams.
Total marks of the test was still 400, 4 marks for correct, -1 for each wrong answer and 0 mark for not answered questions. before 2011 total time for test were 80 minutes. But UET, on test day said that time is increased to 100 minutes for 100 MCQs. This test was almost same as the test pattern for NUST and GIKI’s test pattern. And somewhat difficult. Some students said that the test was extremely difficult and out of course.
After reading this you should have an idea about the test. But keep in mind that Uet, untill now, have not officially declared any test pattern or changes. So

computer engg is specialization of electrical engineering usually deals with hardware design of computers. computer science is mostly termed as software engineering. you will make softwares and learn programming. both fields are math intensive and there is HUGE scope of both fields. (computer engg) = (computer science + electrical engg)

with 875 in fsc and 200 in ecat, there are chances to be admitted in Computer science or Industrial engineering gujranwala campus.
My friend gave the test at uet and he says that he will get 820 marks in fsc an d has attempted 50 mcqs approximatily correctly is there any chance for him at uet ???
with these figures his aggregates become 67.18% overall. even this is when he only have attempted 50 correct questions and left other 50 blank. with negative marking(if he got some answers wrong unfortunately) his aggregate will even decrease. with this aggregate, this is almost impossible to get admission in uet.. 🙁
i mean these are easy. for example in a question, you maybe only need to put values in simple formulas like K.E = (1/2)mv2.

Hey Hamza, why are you afraid? Let me tell u something, if are not confident than you will not get marks. just do it with full confidence. just stop estimating marks. and be prepared. BTW 200 marks are not enough …

W.salam! sorry hamza :). as test is comprehensive so reading only 1st tear or 2nd year books will not work. In chemistry, understand concepts behind questions given in F.Sc book exercise MCQs. in physics there are roughy 50% questions are like numericals(east though) and remaining are like general concepts(For example: Which has more rotational kinetic energy? (a) hoop (b) Disk (c)Sphere (d) thin rod). Dont be tense as test of uet is too easy most of the times. Be good soon. hope to see you at UET.

I’m doing DAE in architecture and i wanna do B.ARCH after this. I’m in 2nd year…still one year remaining but one of my teachers has suggested me to give entry test now just to check and experience the pattern of testin uet ….is it okay that to give test now and again after completion of my diploma…or my chances to give entry test will decrease…I’ve heard that entry tests held after every 3 months…but I’m completely doubtful about this…is it true???

UET entry test is held once a year not every 3 months. You are highly recommended that you attempt ECAT this year. you can attempt it even with matric. because from last two years, uet is not asking for any certificate of intermediate or DAE to attempt the test. your chances of attempting test will not decrease. Previous year, I asked several friends of mine studying in 1st year to attempt ECAT 2012 (this was great experience of real entry test environment and feeling of competition for them). Last date for applying to uet was 2 august 2013. I’m afraid you cannot apply now. But if you have already applied and got roll number from uet then do attempt it. it will be good experience for you. Don’t worry. you should have your concepts clear. it is not compulsory bu recommended that you study intermediate bo0ks. likewise you, F.Sc students are complaining about questions of entry test that are chosen from A-level courses. as you will be applying on reserved seats of DAE so dont you worry because your competition will be with DAE students. average marks for DAE students who are admitted ranges from 120-220. just sit and read books of F.Sc thoroughly.(it will be a gain for you). be confident while doing test. it is also very important.

but this is the main problem..there is just 1 seat reserved for b.arch for DAE applicants. can any DAE student be selected according to the merit…not just for reserved seat????
no, you can only be admitted on 1 reserved seat for DAE. knowing that there is only 1 seat, students feel a lot of competition (as it is) and may underestimate themselves. but just do the test with full confidence. good marks in ECAT will stand you out of the crowd and you will be insha’Allah admitted.

How much time is given for the uet test and what helps one in doing the test in manageble time
mostly time given is 100 minutes. but they surprisingly increase or decrease time for test each year. last year, it was 100 minutes. and it is up to you how u manage your time. some students do mathematics problems for example in short time relative to physics. so U have to manage your time according to your habits. what you can do now for ur part2 marks??? nothing except praying.. but try to do your best in ECAT, there are chances that you will be admitted.

if your fsc marks cross 830 and you manage to get 300/400 in ECAT, then you will be doing electrical or mechanical engineering from UET, lahore 🙂 (maybe from other campus of uet)…
keep in mind that after four years, there will be no mention of Campus on your degree… it doesn’t matter in which campus you study… GOOD LUCK!
